Dr. Jonathan Johnson of Johnson Orthodontics in Rehoboth Beach is well aware that school nurses have their hands full.

To help make their jobs a little easier, the team at Johnson Orthodontics recently provided orthodontic emergency kits to the school nurses at Sussex Academy and all nine Cape district schools.

The complimentary kits include orthodontic wax, proxy brushes, floss, wire cutters, mouth mirrors, lip balm and mouth sore rinse. Each one also includes special orthodontic sports mouthguards in case any braces-wearing student athletes forget to bring one to practice.

Since October is National Orthodontic Health Month, Johnson thought it a perfect time to make sure the nurses are prepared to handle minor orthodontic complaints such as poking wires or sore gums.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
